Milwaukee Battery Warranty – Each Model and Battery Pack Listed

We thought Milwaukee’s battery warranty policy was pretty simple until we looked into it. As it turned out, the company has different warranties for different batteries. The Milwaukee battery warranty period for each battery pack varies by model purchased.
The good news is that every Milwaukee battery sold is covered by a warranty. This includes any batteries purchased separately and packaged as part of a wireless product or bundle.
However, the battery is warranted only to the original purchaser. Milwaukee also warrants them to be free from defects in materials and workmanship. This means that if you drop the battery down a 12-foot ladder onto concrete or leave it on the bed of a truck overnight during a rainstorm, you will not be able to return the battery under warranty. They’re also less likely to fix something you’ve already tried to “fix” yourself.
If Milwaukee determines that the battery is eligible for warranty service, it will repair or replace the battery. However, you must first return the battery to a Milwaukee Factory Service Center or Authorized Service Station, freight prepaid and insured. At this point, the warranty process begins.
Please include a copy of proof of purchase with your return when requesting warranty service for a Milwaukee battery.
Interestingly, the warranty period for Milwaukee batteries actually depends on which battery you buy. Below is a comprehensive list of batteries with their descriptions and their respective warranties. Some of this may surprise you, especially considering that all Milwaukee batteries come with a three-year warranty. The following warranty periods apply specifically to the US and Canada.
The warranty period is 5 years from date of purchase/2000 charges, whichever comes first. The first 1,000 charges or the 2-year warranty (whichever comes first) are covered by a free replacement of defective batteries. This means that for the earlier of the first 1000 charges or 2 years from the date of purchase/first charge, Milwaukee will ship a replacement battery free of charge to the customer to replace any defective batteries.
Thereafter, the remaining fees until the year 2000 or the remaining 5 years from the date of purchase, whichever comes first, will be paid pro rata. This means each customer receives an additional 1000 charges or a 3-year warranty on these battery packs, depending on usage.
According to Milwaukee Tool, you do not need to register your battery to receive warranty service. However, if you are unable to provide proof of purchase when requesting warranty service, Milwaukee will use the date the product was manufactured to determine the warranty period. Therefore, we advise you to keep receipts and keep them somewhere in case of unforeseen circumstances.
We look forward to continuing to update this list. If Milwaukee adds a new battery that you don’t see here, please comment below and let us know. We will add information as soon as possible. Of course, all Milwaukee M12/M18 cordless power tools come with (to the best of our knowledge) a 5-year warranty. Once you have used some of their other products such as hand tools and pneumatic systems the warranty changes so be sure to check the website if you are unsure if your tool is still under warranty.
