The MLC650 has become a key tool in road construction projects in Australia

The Manitowoc MLC650 crawler Crane is equipped with the VPC-MAX system, which is a key tool to carry out pavement upgrading projects.

The project is taking place at the intersection of Leach Highway and Welshpool Road in Western Australia, the second most dangerous and congested intersection in the state. The crane was deployed by Heavy lifting contractor and crane provider Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift, who used only two lifting points to install 16 bridge girder sections to complete the task.

Renowned as a Heavy Lift contractor and crane provider, Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift (TBHLS) selected the Manitowoc MLC650 crawler Crane to handle the work, equipped with its unique variable position balancing system, That is, VPC-MAX. The sheer power of the crane meant that Tutt Bryant did all the work using just two sites on the site, picking up and moving 16 beam segments to place them in the final position. Not only does this method save the crane from having to relocate to more locations, which would require more ground preparation, but it also means the job is done faster.

The Manitowoc MLC650 Crawler Crane is a 650-ton crane equipped with Manitowoc’s VPC-MAX system, which increases its carrying capacity by 50 tons to 700 tons, while its short assembly time and powerful load chart make it one of the best cranes in its class.

Thanks to Tutt Bryant’s team, 16 bridge girder sections at the intersection of Leach Highway and Welshpool Road were successfully transported and installed in a single weekend, three days ahead of schedule, which reinforced the alliance’s confidence in Tutt Bryant’s team.
